Greek-born Basketball Player, Giannis Antetokounmpo whose parents are Nigerians, has won the just ended NBA Champions Finals MVP of the season after winning the first title for his team, Milwaukee Bucks, since 1971.
Giannis netted fifty (50) points, fourteen (14) rebounds, and five (5) blocks to lead Milwaukee Bucks to the 2021 NBA Champions finals after defeating Phoenix Suns 105-98 at home.
The team won their first NBA Championship since 1971 on Tuesday (20-07-2021) night against Phoenix Suns. Even though Giannis suffered a knee injury three weeks prior to the game, he was able to take part in the Finals and help the team bag its first championship in 50 years.
“With the victory, the Bucks clinched the NBA Finals 4-2 and became only the fifth team to win the best-of-seven championship series after losing their first two games,” sources report.
Giannis when asked about how relevant his NBA Final Champion MVP is to the continent he represents, he said;
“I represent my countries, both countries, Nigeria and Greece. A lot of kids from there, not even just Nigeria, the whole of Africa, and the whole of Europe know that I’m a role model. This should make every kid and anybody in the world believe in their dreams.”
