Robin Williams was an American and comedian. He was born on July 21, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, US. He was the son of Robert Fitzgerald Williams and Laurie McLaurin. He attended public elementary school and middle school at Deer Path Junior High School.
William began performing stand-up comedy in San Francisco Bay Area in 1976. He gave his first performance at the Holy City Zoo, a comedy club in San Fransisco, where he worked his way up from tending bar.
William’s stand-up work was a consistent thread through his career, as seen by the success of his one-man show. In 2004, he was voted 13th on Comedy Central’s list “100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time”.
Aside from his comedy skills, he hosted a talk show for Audible, which premiered in April 2000 and was available exclusively from Audible’s website.

Robin Williams died on August 11, 2014, at home in Paradise Cay, California. He committed suicide by hanging. His body was cremated at Monte’s Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo, and his ashes were scattered over San Francisco Bay the next day.
The final autopsy report, released in November 2014, concluded that he died of asphyxia due to hanging.
