Harvey Weinstein Case: Why Is The Film Producer In Court?

Harvey Weinstein is a popular famous American former film producer and convicted sex offender who is currently facing rape charges.

Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault in 2020. Since then, dozens of women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, against Weinstein since October 2017.

Harvey Weinstein is currently facing rape charges that could see him behind bars for over 140 years.

Harvey is being charged on four counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation, two counts of sexual battery by restraint, and one count of sexual penetration by use of force. The attacks involve five women over a span of time from 2004 to 2013.

Harvey Weinstein has been transferred at a New York prison into the custody of officials for extradition to California, where he faces trial for serious sex crimes.

However, his lawyers have filed an appeal of his conviction arguing against his extradition to Los Angeles, citing poor health.
